Setting the Scene
This tuition-free K-8 public charter school in North Minneapolis was operating out of a building from the 1950s. It was originally an elementary school, but had become outdated and dilapidated from decades of deferred maintenance. The cafeteria was so undersized that many students ate their lunch in the gym. Some teachers worked out of mechanical rooms. Cracked windows and crumbling brick were almost the norm.

It had become a place that no longer offered students the dignity they deserved. And the school was expanding. They needed more space.

Making It Happen
We were able to stretch their budget to cover a comprehensive interior remodel, including a gym makeover and a new addition with more classroom space to meet their growing demands.

The comfort and welfare of teachers was also paramount. We got all teachers out of mechanical rooms and into refurbished, dedicated office spaces. Plus, by strategically repositioning a few secondary spaces, we were able to provide a dedicated break room. All efforts culminated in an atmosphere that supports learning and flourishing.
